       Common company information
Lucky Tours Co. is a small  Bulgarian licensed tour operator company housed in Plovdiv (second largest city of Bulgaria - 450 000 citizens). It was founded in 1994. We organize hiking, cycling and culture tours in Bulgaria. It is characteristic for our company that we are dealing with small groups, too. The number of the customers of our groups varies between 2 and 45. Our customers so far come from Germany, Denmark and Great Britain.
 
Our company welcomes proposals for mutual activities using the itineraries offered, or other routes that the clients might be interested in doing.

    Officials
The permanent officials of the company are the members of our family - me, my wife and my oldest son:  

Alexander Georgiev (president of the company)
    - born 1958;
    - speaks fluently German, English, Russian and Spanish;
    - organizer and leader of one and participator in two high mountain expeditions;
    - qualified mountain leader;
    - highly experienced organizer and guide of hiking and cycling tours in the mountains.

Svetla Georgieva (my wife)
    - born 1961;
    - speaks fluently German, English and Russian;
    - well-experienced guide of cultural groups.

Anton Georgiev (my son)
    - born 1981;
    - speaks fluently English and German;
    - with experience in organizing and guiding cycling, hiking and culture tours.

    Tour conditions

• We offer our customers good accommodation in hotels, private hotels or mountain chalets. The tourists have breakfast and supper at restaurants or at the chalets and the ones on the itineraries with Full Board receive a pack of  food for lunch in the open.
• During cycling tours customers are accompanied by a car which carries their luggage.
• Along the itineraries tourists visit a number of cultural and historical monuments and marvels of nature.
• Itineraries may sometimes change under unexpected conditions.
• Tourists should be in possession of insurance in the country they come from.
• For the sake of comfort and safety during the hiking and mountain biking tours we recommend the following mountain equipment:

- a warm jacket;
- an anorak;
- a pullover;
- some shirts;
- waterproof shoes;
- shoes (to be used in the huts);
- several pairs of socks;
- gloves;
- winter and summer caps;
- a torch;
- track suit;
- sunglasses;
- sun protection mask;
- a bottle of water and a cup;
- personal medicines;
- sun protective cream;
- personal belongings;
- a raincoat;
- a rucksack.

    Bulgaria
Our country is situated in South-Eastern Europe, particularly on the Balkan Peninsula. It borders to the South with Greece and Turkey, to the North with Romania, to the West with Serbia and Macedonia and to the East with the Black Sea (indirectly with Ukraine, Russia and Georgia). Its territory is 111 000 square km. The population of the country is about 8,5 Million. The capital is Sofia (1,5 Million).
The climate is moderate continental with four distinct seasons: hottest month - July (more than 35°C); coldest - January (not lower than -15°C). The summer (over 20°C) continues from 15 May till 15 September. In this period there is normally no snow on the Bulgarian mountains. Most of the roads in Bulgaria are asphalt roads and there are two major motorways, too.
    Politically it is stable. There has been no war or major conflict on its territory since World War II. As most of the Eastern European countries it shifted from Communist to Democratic type of government in 1989. The governing party is the Democratic Coalition and its policy includes a major objective of Bulgaria's joining the European Union and NATO.
    The currency of Bulgaria is the Lev (1000 Levs = 1 DM).

Company's Patron
WHO WAS "The Lucky"?

Aleko Konstantinov was born on January 1st, 1863 at Svishtov on the Danube. In 1878 he began his studies at Nikolaev (Russia). This is the time when his first poems came out. Aleko wrote plays, composed music and a short operetta. In 1881 Aleko Konstantinov enrolled at the Faculty of Law of the University in Odessa. He graduated Law in 1885 and returned to Svishtov.

Aleko liked traveling. He visited the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889, in Prague in 1891 and in Chicago in 1893. He often traveled round Bulgaria, got to know its scenic splendor and using his travel notes he made it familiar to the people. Aleko was creator of the organized tourism movement in Bulgaria. On August 27th, 1895 he climbed the Cherni Vrah peak 2290m (near Sofia), taking 300 people with him. By that way he gave rise to the mass tourist organization.

His travelogues "All the Way to Chicago and Back" and "Bay Ganyu" appear as a result of his journeys. "Bay Ganyu" is an unique image, combined the vulgarity, a murderous epoch of wolfish customs and Aleko began a merciless literary and life's duel. His satire struck at all sorts of corrupt practices and crude reality. He was not afraid to call a spade and his characters with real names.

Aleko Konstantinov's moral life and literary activity made him renowned and favorite. Because of his incorruptibility, frankness and his clear conscience he was called LUCKY by his friends. In an interview he confessed that the nicest moment in his life is the journey to Chicago and in the same interview he explicitly said that Bulgaria is the country he preferred to live in.

The people, who were affected by him didn't forgive him. On 11th May 1897 he was killed by their agent.
